HOW TO LIGHT THE HOT TUB

We are so happy to offer you this wonderful experience of enjoying the relaxing sounds of the woodland while you bathe in luxurious warm water.

We ask that you do not add any chemicals to the water or soaps

that could harm the environment.

STEP BY STEP:

  1. Plan ahead. The hot tub will take 2 hours to heat up.
This will stop you wasting wood, time and energy - as well as prevent the disaster of you being out for dinner when it's ready.
  2. Carefully select your chosen kindling, making sure it's in smallish logs that will fit, also ensuring you have plenty to hand and don't run out mid warm up.
  3. Clean out the burner if it's not already done., you can use a brush or small shovel for this.
  4. Place firelighters and small soft wood pieces in a small pyramid in the centre of the burner, using a match to carefully light the firelighter.
  5. Add small pieces of wood at a controlled pace., keeping a pyramid structure that allows air to the fire's centre (it needs oxygen to keep burning).
Let the heat build-up enough for larger logs.
  6. Now add slightly larger logs on the fire., making sure you close the burner door after placing the wood on the flames. Make sure the vents on the door are open (it still needs that oxygen).
  7. Keep checking the fire every 5-10 minutes, adding logs to keep the fire blazing.
  8. During the heat process, take the top of the hot tub off and use the provided paddle to stir the water, as hot water rises to the top.
  9. Once the water reaches 35-37 degrees, it is ready to get in
Place a log on the fire so it heats up a little more while you enjoy the relaxing tub. You don't want the fire to die., but you also don't want the water to get too hot, so use your judgement to keep it warm.
  10. Switch your phone to silent, tentatively dip a few toes in, and take the plunge., You may well not even notice it get dark

HOW TO LIGHT THE LOG BURNER

There is nothing quite as cosy than snuggling up in front a fire when it is chilly outside. Our huts have all got log burnings for you to enjoy.

We provide enough logs and fire lighters for you to use while you stay, but if you find you have run out we have more located in our Honesty box, located near your hut. We ask you pay a small fee the extra logs and fire lighters you need

A guide to lighting your stove :

Total Time Needed:

30 minutes

Required Tools:

- Matches or gas lighter.

Materials:

- Kindling (small cuts of wood)

- Natural firelighters.

- 2x small logs (around 9 inch x 2 inch)

- Standard sized logs

HOW TO LIGHT THE LOG BURNER

STEP BY STEP:

Step 1

Create a pile of kindling: Start with 2 pieces of kindling on the bottom

then tum another 2 pieces 90 degrees on top of them. keep repeating this,

stacking them up like a game of Jenga.

Step 2

Now light 2 or 3 firelighters and drop these in the middle of the kindling stack created.

Step 3

From here it's best to leave the door slightly ajar, allowing extra air into the stove. Keep the vents fully open too to ensure the kindling will catch fire.

After 5 minutes the chimney will begin to warm up.

Step 4

At this point it's important to build the fire up slowly.

Add two small logs on top of the kindling while still leaving the door ajar.

Step 5

After around 10 minutes add one standard sized log on the fire and still keep the door ajar as this will help the log catch fire.

Your stove should now be just about getting up to temperature.

Step 6

Finally, after another 10 minutes add another standard log. You can now close the door and control the stove by the airflow vents.

But make sure don't completely close the vents straight away as the flue still needs warming before being able to do this.
